Paul Shorrock, Freelance Illustrator

Born in Lancashire in 1962, I graduated in 1984 as a Bachelor of Arts with first class honours in Graphic Design (Illustration) from Liverpool Polytechnic. Since then I have pursued a career in Illustration. For the first few years I supplemented my freelance income by working as a studio assistant to established Illustrators George Hardie and Bush Hollyhead at NTA studios in London. I think I learnt more from them than from my degree course.

I have produced illustrations for most of the quality newspapers and magazines, for many Publishers and Design and Advertiing Agencies
around the world.

In 1995 I bought my first Macintosh computer. I took to the digital medium like a duck to water and produced my first published digital Illustration within a week of taking the Mac out of the box.

In the last four years I have become one of the recognised experts in creating Rich Pictures which are a way of communicating complex business issues in pictorial form. For reasons of client confidentiality I am prevented from showing many examples here. They are usually big (A0 sized) and complicated and take around a month to complete on average. Prices start around £4k.

After almost twenty years in London I returned to live in Lancashire which has been a good move for my family. For more information please email or call shorrock@dircon.co.uk.
